In the hustle and bustle of college life, where deadlines, exams, and a perpetual lack of time seem to be the norm, finding a moment for self-care can be a rarity. In the recent “Run for Fitness” activity, I found myself confronting not only the physical aspects of my well-being but also delving into the intricate interplay between my daily habits and overall health.

As the activity initiated, I faced the stark numerical reality of my physicality: weight, height, and the subsequent calculation of the Body Mass Index (BMI). The numbers, often relegated to mere statistics in the chaos of academic life, now took center stage. The BMI served as a tangible indicator, a numerical showcase of my current state of fitness. It wasn’t merely about weight or height; it was a reflection of how well my body and I were navigating this journey called life.

The subsequent questions in the activity plunged into the realm of daily habits — a territory often overlooked in the chaotic rhythm of a college student’s life. The time spent watching TV, engaging in mobile gaming were not things that I enjoyed doing. As someone who rarely indulges in TV or gaming, the prospect of quantifying my daily activities brought a certain level of self-awareness.The revelation that my hours were predominantly dedicated to working on a desktop or laptop wasn’t surprising. It mirrored the demands of academic and personal responsibilities. However, it also sparked a contemplation of the balance between work and leisure, and the potential repercussions on my physical health.

The sharp contrast emerged when I reached the question concerning running. “Were you able to run in the activity?” — a seemingly harmless inquiry that encapsulated a deeper, more profound reflection. The honesty of my response, a simple ‘No,’ echoed not just a lack of physical activity but hinted at a broader pattern of neglecting my own well-being amidst the academic chaos. Well I can run, but running simply because of an activity didn’t go well with me as it was one of the few activities which I personally didn’t like doing in a group.

As I navigated through the activity, a nuanced tapestry of emotions unfolded. There was a palpable awareness of the need for a more balanced lifestyle. The figures and questions weren’t accusatory; they were prompts for self-reflection. A realization that the pursuit of academic excellence shouldn’t be at the expense of one’s physical health. While the activity illuminated areas for improvement, it wasn’t met with a defeatist attitude. Instead, it fueled a sense of agency — a recognition that change is within reach. The numerical revelations acted as catalysts for a newfound commitment to incorporate physical activity into the daily routine.

In conclusion, the “Run for Fitness” activity served as a holistic mirror, reflecting not just the physical aspects of my well-being but also prompting a contemplation of the broader lifestyle choices that shape my college experience. It was an essay written not in words, but in numbers and responses, fostering an understanding that true health and happiness lie in the delicate balance between academic pursuits and self-care.

These are the thoughts of some of my classmates:

~Running for fitness was invigorating! Feeling accomplished and motivated to keep up the momentum for a healthier lifestyle.

~enjoyable experience! Running for fitness gave me a sense of accomplishment and a newfound appreciation for outdoor activities.
